Protecting your trampoline

We all know that trampolines are one of the best investments for the family if you want everyone to spend some summer fun outdoors in your very own backyard. Trampolines are every kid’s dream to have and once they hop on one they’re not getting off anytime soon. It’s great for the kids workout and it keeps them away from the television set or xbox or whatever your kid’s preference.

Nowadays trampolines can get very costly, especially if you’re like me and want the best brand name and best quality to use. Just like everything else I research everything before I buy it and make sure it is has good ratings from previous customers. So after all the research I decided to go with the Olympus Pro rectangle trampoline unit. We’ve had our trampoline for over 2 years now, and to this day our family uses it at least 4 times a week. We definitely put it to good use, it’s nothing you have to persuade your kids to use. They love it and jump and laugh and have a great time on it. We just make sure they’re safe and overlook them while they’re jumping away.

TrampolinesWe spend over two thousand dollars on our unit, and I would hate for something to happen to it. After owning several different brands in the past I realize you do have to take care and protect your trampoline from natural causes, rain, snow, heat, etc.. The first thing you need to do is get some type of UV protectant on the spring pad cover. The spring pad is normally the blue colored safety foam pad over the springs. If you don’t use some type of protectant like Trek7, ArmorAll, or something of that sort that pad will get crusty and fade in color within a matter of months. I have a liter of Trek7 and spray it on at least once a month or so. It keeps the color looking nice and new and prevents the cracking. This is really good for those hot summer weather conditions.

For the winter if you are not using it, I highly suggest a weather cover which covers the entire unit. That way no snow or rain will get on it to help prevent the frame and steel parts to corrode or prevent any type of oxidation.

Lastly you always want to hose it down every week or so to get the dirt, bird poop, or anything else that can eat away at it. Just like anything else you purchase, you want to take good care of your trampoline and have it last for years to come. The kids will love you for it and it will bring smiles for years to come.
